Crocodile Sighting!

The staff at Lighthouse Point Marina made a rare sighting on Sunday, December 22nd. Just after noon, they spied a Crocodile sunning himself on the beach of a private residence across from the fuel dock! Experts say that the endangered species is beginning to make a comeback in South Florida. Although most of the population is located in the Southern portion of Everglades National Park and the Upper Florida Keys, they are beginning to migrate back into waters that held large numbers of the creatures many years ago in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. How can you tell a crocodile from an alligator? They are light gray in color instead of very dark grayish black. They have narrower snouts, with a fourth tooth that protrudes from their lower jaw which really adds to their frightening appearance. They prefer brackish, coastal waters as opposed to the fresh water lakes and rivers that alligators inhabit. Check out the video shot of the authorities ushering him back to his salty home on Sunday!
