Specialty Salvage Vessel Endurance Eight Months After Commissioning
The verdict is in! The repurposing of TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale’s 30’ SeaArk reported in this publication late last year is a complete success. You may recall that TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale took a vessel that they owned, followed a vision that company President and Founder, Larry Acheson had, and made it a reality. Her hydraulic A-frame and pumps are very effective in performing salvage work on small to mid-sized vessels that sink at the dock.
This asset has been used on dozens of salvage operations over the past 8 months. The procedure goes like this: Once Endurance gets in position at the site of the casualty, divers rig straps from solid lift points on the casualty. The A-frame pick point is centered over the load. The hydraulic winch lifts the submerged vessel high enough so pumps can be deployed. The vessel is dewatered and derigged. The crew tows the vessel to a haul out facility or boat ramp for preservation and repair. This new rig supplements the company’s already robust salvage inventory.
