The oldest recovered boat in the world is the Pesse canoe, a dugout made from the hollowed tree trunk of a Pinus sylvestris tree and constructed somewhere between 8200 and 7600 BC. This canoe is exhibited in the Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands. This tells us that boats have been in existence for at least 9600 years! Fast forward to 2015, there are over 15 million recreational boats registered in the United States.
