Chemical Drums Delivered to Ship in Straits of Florida

TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale delivered 25 pallets of chemicals to a ship in the Port Everglades anchorage in Late June. Each pallet weighed approximately 2,000 pounds and contained four 55 gallon drums. The chemicals were delivered to TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale's secure dockside yard in Dania Beach Florida via common carrier. The company used an all terrain forklift to offload the pallets from the truck. Loading the cargo onto the deck of the Richard L. Becker was simplified by using the boat's 7.5 ton knuckle boom crane. The cargo was delivered to the ship along with several technicians. The launch boat and crew stood by after assisting with the transfer of each pallet from the deck of the launch vessel to the ship. Once on deck, the ship's crew emptied the contents of each drum into tanks. Empty drums and pallets were returned to the launch boat for final transportation back to shore for disposal.

TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale helps agents and shipping companies by saving time and money. Director of Sales Barney Hauf noted "Depending on a ship's needs, the shipping company may be able to avoid the cost of a Port call by using our services. Customers have commented that they have saved thousands of dollars by transferring spares, stores, provisions and crew via launch. We welcome your calls to discuss the possibility of assisting with your ships' needs." Please email Barney at bhauf@towboatusftlauderdale.com for more information. The company also has a 24 hour dispatcher that monitors VHF radio traffic from the company's high site located in Southern Broward County; they are standing by for your call on channel 16 to assist once your ship is within radio range.
